Tyler Brown Appointed to OTEC Board of Directors

Following a thorough and deliberate selection process, the Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative (OTEC) Board of Directors voted unanimously to appoint Tyler Brown to serve as OTEC Director for Baker County, Board Position 5, one of three Baker County seats on the nine-member board. The appointment reflects the board’s collective decision after completing its review and evaluation of the candidates considered for the position.

The seat opened when Wayne Overton, who had represented Baker County in Position 5 since 2015, resigned in September. Under Article III, Section 6 of OTEC’s bylaws, a vacancy on the board is filled by a majority vote of the remaining directors, and the appointee must be qualified for election as a director from that district.


The board received a total of 12 applications from individuals interested in filling the vacancy between September 22 and the October 13 deadline. After reviewing the applications, the board selected the top candidates to advance in the process and, on October 21, 2026, interviewed them and made the decision. All applicants have been notified.


Brown will join the board at its regular meeting on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Board Position 5 will run its term through the remainder of 2026 until the annual meeting in 2027, when the seat will be on the ballot and OTEC member-owners will elect a director to a full three-year term.
